Quad Nation Bedale – First Person review

When we’re not booking mad and muddy quad biking experiences for our customers, we like to escape the office and squeeze in as much off-roading as possible. So when we find some free time to visit one of our 70+ venues we really make the most of it!

alex

The latest member of the  Sales team to get their quad biking fix was Alex, here’s what he got up to when he visited Bedale Quad Biking..

“Our Bedale venue is surrounded by countryside, so when we arrived at the site I couldn’t wait to get out on the quads. We met our instructor straight away, and after we’d sat through a short safety talk we were pretty much ready to head off.

The only thing I’ve done that’s similar to quad biking is karting, but I don’t think that really helped. Getting to grips with the quads controls was fairly easy though, so when we set off just before 1 o’clock I was fairly confident on the quad.

The trek was follow the leader style, which meant the instructor led the way and the rest of us followed on behind. To say the trek was only an hour long it seemed to last for much longer, and I couldn’t believe how much ground we covered.

As we worked our way through the countryside we had to tackle loads of varied terrain, and because all the tracks and paths were completely natural we never knew what was around the next bend. At one point the instructor even had to get off his quad bike to move a huge log that was blocking the way!

The tracks led us through a mixture of woodland and fields, and no matter what was thrown at them the quads just kept on going. I love anything with an engine so the chance to try off-roading on a quad bike was something which I really enjoyed.

The team at Bedale were great and really made sure we squeezed as much into our experience as possible. My first quad biking experience was even better than I expected and I’ll definitely be back!”

Ramble vs Circuit – Which is the better experience?

Quad bikes are tailor-made to tackle almost any terrain, which makes them perfect for both tearing through the countryside, and conquering specially designed off-road circuits. With 69 quad biking venues across the UK and Ireland we can offer both quad rambles and quad circuits, so to help you decide between the two here’s a look at some of the main differences.

The TerrainScreenshot from 2016-05-12 09-49-04

Whichever option you choose the one thing you’re guaranteed is lots of bumpy and uneven ground. However quad circuits do tend to be slightly smoother – but that’s not to say you won’t come across plenty of hidden bumps and potholes along the way! Rambles can be just as rugged though, and as you work your way through the countryside you’ll wind your way down woodland paths and dirt tracks pushing both you and the bikes to the limit.

Speed

Quad bikes aren’t really built for speed, but in the right hands they can hit some seriously impressive top speeds. On a quad ramble you’ll never really get to push the quads to the limit, purely for your own safety. Whereas at a quad circuit you’ll be able to squeeze a bit more speed out of the them, and with a mix of banked corners and high-speed straights to negotiate, your driving skills will be pushed to the limit.

The WeatherScreenshot from 2016-05-12 09-28-48

Let’s face it we’re not exactly blessed with the best weather here in the UK, but when it comes to quad biking at least all the extra rain makes for a better experience. Splashing through mud and puddles is one of the best things about a quad ramble, and no matter how old you are it’s impossible not to enjoy churning up the mud on a quad bike! You probably won’t find quite as many puddles at a quad circuit, but the rain does make things more interesting.. especially when it comes to cornering!

Format

One of the main differences between a quad ramble and quad circuit is the role the instructor plays. Quad rambles are led by instructors, which means you have to follow the instructor as you explore the countryside. Whereas at a quad circuit you’re free to work your way round the track without an instructor. However in both instances you will receive full tuition before taking the quads for a spin.
